A workout log for training in mesocycles
Last week's set is already there.
sudo is a small phone app for lifters who follow a plan. Every set starts from what you did the same set last week, so logging a heavier set is two taps, not typing.
You're on the list. Thank you.
I'll email you when there's a spot in the beta. Know someone who trains with a plan and would use this?
No spam, just the invite.
Why it exists
Made for one lifter first
I train in mesocycles: a plan of days A to D, run for four or five weeks, a bit heavier each week. Logging it meant typing the same numbers every week, on a phone, between sets, often with one bar of signal.
So I built the log I wanted. It knows the plan, it shows what you did last week, and logging a set never waits for the network. I've used it for my own training, changed it after every gym session, and now I'm opening it to a few testers.
Few features, all of them useful.
- 01
Two taps, not typing. The weight and reps start at last week's same set. Add 2.5 kg, tap LOG SET, back to resting.
- 02
Weak signal is fine mid-workout. Sets save on the phone right away and sync to your account when the connection comes back.
- 03
Big buttons. Made for one thumb between sets. Hold a weight button and it snaps to the next 5, then moves 10 kg at a time.
The screens
Plan, train, look back
Rebuilt here from the app's own design. Dark, quiet, numbers in a mono font so they line up. Nothing to wait for while you're mid-set.
What it does
The whole list
- 01
Plans in mesocycles. Name a meso, pick 1 to 12 weeks, add days A, B, C, D. Each exercise is straight sets (4 × 10-12), a target per set (top set plus backoffs), or open (keep going until a stop rule, like "stop when reps drop below 8").
- 02
Logs every set. Weight in kg, reps, and RPE if you want it. Tap a set you already logged to fix it.
- 03
Starts each set from last week. Same exercise, same set number, last week's numbers. New meso? It looks up the same lift from your last one.
- 04
Keeps weeks comparable. Once you start training a plan, its structure is locked. If an injury forces a swap, you can add an exercise to the day, and it shows in a different colour so you know it's an addition.
- 05
Remembers your notes. Write "use neutral grip" on an exercise this week, see it next week.
- 06
Shows progress per lift. Best estimated 1RM, best set, tonnage and a trend line for every movement, across all your mesos. Enter your body weight and it counts on dips and pull-ups too.
- 07
Gives you your data. Export everything as one JSON file whenever you want.
What it doesn't do
On purpose
Every feature is one more thing on screen while you're holding a bar. These stay out.
- ×
No program generator, no coach. You bring the plan. sudo helps you follow it.
- ×
No feed, no followers, no sharing plans. It's a log, not a social network.
- ×
No pounds. Kilograms only, everywhere.
- ×
No rest timer, for now. Your phone already has one.
- ×
No ads, no trackers, no selling your data. Not now.
How the beta works
Small and honest
- Leave your email. That's all I ask for. The app itself signs you in with Google and a passkey.
- I invite people in small groups. It runs in your phone's browser and can be added to your home screen.
- Tell me what gets in the way. I change the app after real gym sessions, mine and yours.
- Testers hear first at launch. No ads, and no selling your data.
